People and the Land: The Documentary Israel Tried to Block 3

It was made in 1997, but the occupation is always the same. The story alone if you take time to read it is amazing. You'll really like the scenes where the Israelis say how to take care of the "problem". One American holds up a sign saying "transfer all the Arabs to Oklahoma where there's oil" Isn't that a good idea? One Israeli says "Take all the Arabs and put them in Arab countries and make one big Disneyland for them" One Israeli settler says, "As long as the Arabs are peaceful they can stay here". and more.

This film is EXCELLENT and I didn't see anything in it that would make it outdated except maybe some of the specific names. Realy, realy good. I don't know if PBS finally showed it but at the time of the article above they would not. It talks about the American attempt to censor the making too. You know it's good if so many "nice" people didn't want it to be seen at the time. It's really nice of the doc makers to let the IOF have their say on how fair things are (yeah right) and then show the atrocities. [Robin]

@celtsbhoy88 Actually Palestine is merely the name of a region originated from the Phillistines. Palestine for a while was controlled by the Ottomon Empire, then Great Britain after the first world war and after became the state of Israel.

@kahoolyzadeh Well there is evidence of Phoenician settlement as far south as Acre (Akko) actually, according to the Israel Museum anyway.

Israel certainly has a right to exist, but the Palestinians living in the West Bank should not have to suffer for their ancestors' decision to settle there. Israel was no right to force the Palestinians out of the West Bank. They cannot use ancient history to justify this. The Palestinians are human beings with the same right to exist as Israelis.

Your assertion does not materially change my point. After consolidation, Jews gave the ultimate name to the UNIFIED land and estab;ished world recognized political entity. Again, land does not have a name - it is given to it by the people who settle it. Romans created the name and sand eating revisionist nomads took it.

@kahoolyzadeh Not quite. The Israelites migrated into the land of Canaan and displaced the Canaanites, Phoenicians and Philistines. The Israelites originated in Mesopotamia. The Jewish religion was adopted much later.
