  • What a shame to see all these old airfields dissapearing, i don'y mind them being taken over by nature, but boy does my blood boil when they build crap supermarkets and retail centres on them. Make them all national monuments or places of historic interest. How many guys left these airfields never to see them again

  • Thanks for taking the time to view my video. I totally agree with your statement, People tend to forget why these airfields were built. If it wasn't for the brave men who operated from them & in many cases paid the ultimate price the UK would be a lot worse than it is today.

  • Shame !!, we tried to aquire it to use as a Aviation archaeology Museum back in the 1980s, But the council refused because of "Road Access" so she lies there still, slowly turning to dust :( , I did a bit of detecting up there and found 16 Mills Bombs,

took them out the ground, and they were all Drilled Practice ones, Real ones But drilled out and full of concrete

up by the Gun test butts area
