2D Super Mario 64

How would Mario 64 play as a 2D platformer?

Quick proof of concept level done Sketch-Up. Mario's movement is restricted to the X and Y axis.

Sorry for the lag, I needed to run PJ64 in Interpreter mode, which is SLOW on my old computer.

Actually this looks better than super mario bros 3ds.
