These things are just plain cool. High-powered piezoelectric (ceramic) discs vibrate like speakers at something like 1.7 MHz (far beyond what we humans can hear at 20,000 Hz), and cause water to break up into small molecules which hang in the air - and thus, misty fog!

The power supply for this thing is 48 Volts at 4.5-4.8 Amps.. this thing draws a decent amount of juice, but it's totally worth it for this Hallowe'en party I've got planned.

  • WHERE CAN I GET THIS?

  • check the site "mainlandmart" (dot com) and look for misters/foggers.

  • I wonder if you could use this thing to vaporize gasoline. I heard that method saves literally half your gas per gallon

  • Might be a good test for the Mythbusters (TV show), you should post it on their forum.

  • where can I buy one of these?

  • I got this one at "mainlandmart" (dot com), it was about $130 or so? It's a fancy one, you can find single-"jet" ones for about $25 I think.

  • well aint you a smart fella!

  • @sn1pe352 Look it up on youtube. People have done it already.

  • @Natatatatofscat No, those black things on the sides are some sort of sensors that shut off the piezos if there's no water between them. Having them on with no liquid will damage the plates.

  • Must this be used inside water? Can I use it outside of water?

  • @sn1pe352 Yes you can. Most water-like fluids can be misted. Not a very smart thing to do. Especially if you're around any cell phones, pilot lights or elecric motors that generates static or sparks. BOOOOM...!

  • you need to add a bit more water..the orange light means low water

  • Is this the M10 with lights? I own an M10 sans lights and it just stopped working for some reason. I think the sensors might be broken or something. mainlandmart won't repair it for me and told me I'd just have to buy another one =P

  • it makes sense that the efficiency would be increased, hard to get a much finer mist than a fog. I'm considering making a torch with one of these. What really interests me is the idea of using fuels like lower concentration ethanol or vegetable oil. I'll probably be writing about my results as soon as I can afford a fogger.

  • a few weeks back i saw this on ebay for $180 same as the one shown in video.

  • Fun with ultrasonic fogger
