Gibsons film was a travesty of the truth and nothing short of racist.

@ZaptheQ at 1.17 the beefeater says cold winter morning< Sir William Wallace was ahem executed od August 23rd 1305. I thought August was summer. and this mans being paid to tell inacurate history
-
The Main reason why these particular guards are called "Beef-eaters" is because they enjoy huge, throbbing, veiny pieces of meat.

This is a better version of the same part of the tour. The Yeoman Warder's name is Bill apparently.

I look down to the comments and see vitriol... the fact of the matter is it is all over land, and tribal combat that took place over the course of history... in this age of free information, and transparency of historical events should one be open to all sides, we can see that none of this land is any ones in particular, and it is actually just a bunch of assholes, claiming rights to what is not ours to inherit. It is still a sad state of affairs. The architecture changed, but we remain fools.

@nazaxprime, a comment worth replying to, both for its balance and maturity. When I shot this clip all I really saw was someone doing his job, i.e. giving the taste and feel of the event from the side of the English. I bet the Wallace lookalike I met in Edimburgh would laugh at this video and go have a couple shots of malt with the beefeater dude. If you were employed in the Tower of London you shouldn't tell the story much differently than this, I reckon you'll agree with me.

I would imagine it to be obvious for an English Beefeater to tell their side of the story wouldnt you? There's a dude in Edimburgh who dresses up as Wallace and tells the same story from the Scottish side. If anyone has a clip of him please post it as a reply. Otherwise you'll have to wait for the next time I go to Auld Reeke.
