  • @RaionTaiko "Kyoko Senda," eh? I'll have to remember that name and run it by the Asano people at the next Conference... see what more they can tell me about her.

You're hosting Hono'o Daiko? Lucky you... I'll bet it didn't come cheap. Cost is one of the reasons we've had to pick and choose groups and individuals we've hosted with discretion. On Ensemble and Fugaku Taiko (home: Gotemba, Japan) are two groups we've hosted.

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy Senda Kyoko was one of the original members of Hono O Daiko. But she was only in the group for a few years when they first began. I don't know the exact dates. She still is very much involved at Asano Daiko, though, leading one of Asano's "community" groups, Yume Mitai. I was a member of Yume Mitai with Senda san from 2007 to 2009.

You may be interested to know that we are hosting Hono-O-Daiko (current members) for a concert and workshops in February (2/19). michigantaiko . net

  • @RaionTaiko There was one before Shoji? How strange that I didn't know this until now... and how fallible of me.

Well then, my friend... you have a task before you, it would seem. Please tell me everything you know about this person "Senda." Full name (if you know it), how many years a member of Hono'o Daiko, and anything else you can tell me.

I realize now that I'm here to learn, and you're here to do some teaching. Please begin, sensei... and expand my horizons.

  • @NCTaikoDrumboy Shoji san was not an original member. The first three were Jige san, Ikeda san and Senda san. Shoji san followed Senda san.

  • Hono'o Daiko is as great as they've ever been, but the names of the original three still stand tallest in my mind: Jige, Ikeda, Shoji. I would give a year's salary to study with each of them for a month... I could only emerge a better player for it.

  • Yay Jige san!! I had the pleasure of taking a workshop from her last year, and she was one of the most fun, energetic, and charismatic people I have ever met!

(she is the one playing on the side of the drum with the image on it)

  • shit they had bigger biceps than i do...

  • woa, awesome :')

  • hen hao!!!
