One of the most outrageous consequences of the War on Drugs is the federal crackdown on medical marijuana, which is used by patients to help treat the effects of cancer, glaucoma, HIV-AIDS, chronic pain and nausea, and other severe symptoms associated with serious illnesses. Medical marijuana prescribed by a physician is legal in California and 11 other states, yet the federal agents are raiding state-approved dispensaries and preventing patients from having safe access to this drug.
In Episode 2 of The Drew Carey Project at Reason.tv, Drew takes a look at patients who need and use medical marijuana in California, and how the federal government is making their lives even worse. Visit www.reason.tv for more.

The State should arrest the DEA agents.... they need to fight back.... the STATES run the FEDERAL GOV not the other way around... its time to start arresting DEA agents.
Everytime a kid is told weed is a drug and they realise how harmless it really is, they think other, harder drugs are harmless too. It's a vicious cycle and the government is perpetuating it.
People should be free to be stupid and smoke dope if they want to I agree. But there are very few people that can even do basic math after they get high, so I have a hard time getting on the bandwagon....but you're right you should be able to get it, especially for medicinal reasons. Keep the dope heads out of the fight and you might win.
It is as destructive as many other drugs. People become mentally addicted to it then they start only caring about getting high, then they disregard family, education, future. I am still for the freedom to do it. As long as they restrict it to over 21 (there goes you and your geometry buddies) and keep you from running over my children. But don't pretend it's harmless. I've seen people derailed for years because of it. It is still a drug that impairs.
People who get addicted are the same type of people who over eat: people with no willpower. Yeah, some people let themselves get hooked, but they usually do it because they already disregaurd life. People do need to assume the risks before they do it and I don't think anyone who lacks proper discipline or self-control should do it.
P.S. My "geometry buddies" and I are in ctc and we're required to know basic geometry. I'll be 21 on May 11 and I'm actually in favor of an age restriction.
