  • Fab set of video's thank you! I notice you have drilled holes into your plate that sits directly above the coals, do you find this produces a better bbq environment? I'm thinking of getting the Cobb but I like good old direct heat with the fats falling on the coals. I have a teeny kettle bbq but its still too big when only cooking for one and I like the idea of only using a few pieces of charcoal on this thing. I also noticed that in this video you simply covered the holes with foil. Genius!

  • @annuk03 Thank you for the comment. The plate that i drilled the holes is was an old plate . They have now made a better quaity plate and it would be a shame to drill holes in it. All i do is use the roast rack an the grill plate (as i have a neww plate too) and as the meat drips down on the plat the smoke generated floursvers the meat just like a conventional bbq. you may want to finish the food up dirctly on the plate its self. If you want to call me on 07763492981 and i will go throug the p+c

  • @annuk03 Get the cobb. You will not regret it. 3 of my friends have bought cobbs after they tasted the results from mine. Cheers A.

  • Thanks for leaving feedback. I only replenished with a handful of lumpwood about 3 hours into the cook. Austrailian heat beads last forever. The do have a chemical smell but it doesn't come out in the taste.

  • I see, thank you for your reply. I've looked at a lot of reviews that have mentioned it being quite a bit slower than a traditional bbq and this did put me off a little. I have the Smokey Joe and love it and now i'm wondering if I could isolate part of it and perhaps make it work when i'm only cooking for one. I do like your idea of using the roast rack on the grill plate. With enough holes this wouldn't be too far away from my Smokey Joe. I'm more of a 'fire' type so indirect not for me lol

  • Great video, using lump, how long does a single basket last, did you have to replenish the coals during the 5 hr cook?
