Back to back blizzards devastated the Wildwoods on February 5th and 6th - and again on the 9th bringing record snowfall and gale force winds. Amidst the chaos the storms caused I was able to capture only a handful of the many images I'll carry with me the rest of my days. Power was down throughout the Wildwoods including my house and many others for 7 long cold days. I've lived here all my life and this storm far surpassed the blizzard of 1978 which until now was the "big one" that islanders recall, myself included. The blizzards of 2010 brought down an overwhelming number of power lines and poles (some sparking tree fires as they came down paralyzing the entire community). Most damage occurred during the first storm however recovery would be delayed by a second storm only days later. The haunting song is "Round The Bend" by Beck and comes from his amazing album "Sea Change".

  • where all the ladies in bikinis

  • The music is hauntingly beautiful. It's just turned to summer 2010 and we are in the middle of a heat wave. I miss the cold temperatures of winter. it's my favorite time of year.

  • Really am enjoying this video. I wish we lived in Wildwood year-round, love the coast.

  • WOW! It's sadly unfamiliar - to me, Wildwood is a summer town....but it's great to see these pics that I would never have had the opportunity to see in person! Thanks for sharing!:)

  • Nice job Ralph! Thanks for braving the elements and sharing your vision.

  • Ralph, this was an outstanding depiction of what our Island looked like for those 2 weeks. Thanks for your talent!

  • Its so weird to see the town i associate with summer to be buried under so much snow. I kind of don't Believe it even tho i am looking at it.

  • amazing!
