Shanan is one of the oldest patients ever to receive transplants of umbilical cord stem cells to treat Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. Shanan received transplants via IV and spinal epidural.

Shanan has overcome enormous challenges to live in a sighted world. In this video she discusses her reasons for seeking out treatments to improve her vision. She and her mother discuss life in the hospital and the improvements Shanan saw during the treatment.

  • Wow, I have septo optic dysplasia and ONH is associated with it and I was always told that it'd have to be brain transplants, or something. I am just visually impaired and blind in one eye, but how wonderful. My optic nerves in my left eye is gone. I do have optic nerves in my right eye :D
