The whole reason why this country was called "Prussia", ancient land of a Baltic people, was because Brandenburg was part of the "Holy Roman Empire" and the rulers were not allowed to have the title of "King". Until 1806 they had the title. "King of Prussia" and "Elector of Brandenburg".
So the real country was Brandenburg, "Prussia" was only a nice name.
Also, Hermann Göring was the last to have the title of "Minister President of the Free State of Prussia".

Frederick III was really the last chance of stopping world war I and eventually II....if he had survived long enough, or gained the throne sooner, there was a good chance that the tensions that were caused by bismarck (through his father) would never have lead to the war...mabye even long enough to produce another heir so wilhem II would never have gained the throne

Why did we never learn about the history of Prussia in school? It was such a great power before it died. So sad... Let us all never forget the great power that was Preußen!

I wonder in what language were the _Prussians_ speaking?
'Deutsch' or 'Plattdüütsch'

Sad....just sad. I really hope the best of luck for the Hohenzollerns latest heir, George Frederick of Prussia's bid to retake the Prussian throne. I'm not a big Protestant fan, but hell, I hate Islam even more. I'll take Protestants over the suicide bombers any day. I'll be sure to pray for the return of Prussia.
