@AkatsukiPR0 Yeah, practitioners found the style 30-some years after the Japanese occupation had ended. The first time taekkyeon's numbers dwindled was during the Yi dynasty not just only the Japanese occupation.

@6arcsn1sky Taekwondo was established in the 50's and 60's. There is documentation of Taekkyon from as early as the Three Kingdoms Era. It became rare during the Japanese occupation because it was outlawed. It was "rediscovered" after the occupation ended.

@AkatsukiPR0 No, you're wrong. Hwarangdo and shippalgi was never a part of the unification of taekwondo let alone the former was made five years after TKD. It wasn't until the late 1970's when scholars found taekkyeon sole practitioner.

@6arcsn1sky Wrong. The competition setup taken from Karate, but Taekwondo is a sort of unification of all Korean striking arts (Taekkyon, Hwa Rang Do, Shippalgi, etc.) for sport.

taekkyun was the original form of taekwondo nowadys...the ancient of teakwondo. Please don't confused it with karate or other martial arts...
