Great drum solo by Butch Miles. Taken from Butch's debut album as a leader "Miles and Miles Of Swing", 1977. including Scott Hamilton, Al Cohn, Milt Hinton, John Bunch and Marky Markowitz.
@livejamm69 The problem is younger players may not know him. Big band isn't as popular as it was in the '70s which is when I started listening to him w/Basie. A lot of older guys (like me) definitely know of Butch and how great he is.
thats real druming -not that double bass shit-vblblblblblblblbl-and nothing told in the solo.Butch tells a story -Drum beginners:here that - and follow butch !
Obviously influenced by Buddy Rich. Incredible drumming! No-one ever mentions this guy! Its usually the brilliant ones that dont get the recognition they deserve!
