The repatriation of 5 soldiers recently killed in Afghanistan took place on Thursday 18 February, with the cortege passing through Wootton Bassett at approximately 2.00pm.

Lance Corporal Darren Hicks, 29 from Mousehole in Cornwall, of the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards died on Thursday 11 February 2010, Lance Sergeant Dave Greenhalgh, 25 from Ilkeston in Derbyshire, of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, died on Saturday 13 February 2010, Rifleman Mark Marshall, 29 from Exeter, of the 6th Battalion The Rifles and Kingsman Sean Dawson, 19 from Manchester, of the 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, both died on Sunday 14 February and Sapper Guy Mellors, 20 from Coventry, of the 36 Engineer Regiment, died on Monday 15 February.

Hundreds of Royal British Legion members, veterans, shopkeepers and residents lined the streets to pay their respects - as has become customary after such repatriations.

  • @Vinny86100 What comment didn't I reply too?

  • @osomy first thing, i notice you dont reply to the previous comments which then leaves people to believe that when you dont get a reply that the other person has backed off! secondly you try to argue like a code machine speak sence perhaps you'll get a proper reply but like i said this isnt the time or place to express these views!! and humanity is about leading a good life, nowhere does it suggest that war is the reason humanity is lacking

  • PITY DRESSED UP AS NATIONAL PRIDE.

  • Help for 'Heroes'? Pity dressed up as national pride.

Humanity means you have to stand up and not be a docile pro war prick, patting young lads on the back as they go off to the firing line. There is strong inteligent anti war opininions as well as the opinions of silly grovelling cunts, who are nothing more than body bag fetishists.

The emotional twist you try to give , by calling my words cruel don't wash mate.

It would be fuckin cruel to keep my mouth shut.Keep the lads alive.

  • @osomy theres a time and a place for these comments! do you believe this is that place? you wont change peoples views from a keyboard or on a video or respect and remembrance do that at parliament or as you say you have little sympathy post 1945 then go to a repatriation and tell people, also tell a few 1945 vets im sure they would be interested to offer a few words back..for someone who obviously attacks blair etc for human crimes you have a lack of humanity about yourself also with cruel jibes

  • Be Loyal and up right into your cool graves,

(1920's statement used by 1st world war soldier turned radical, George Grosz)

  • RIP Darren.....deeply missed and never forgotten, see you on the re org mucca

  • I have no respect for British soldiers, post 1945.Mate is used in Ironic way.

Pity dressed up as National pride, that should be 'help the idiots' headline banner.

I have posted a few things from a military familys point of view and the British Armed Forces Federation, you have not acknowledged these, I think the term 'outgunned' is applicable .

  • @osomy I'm not even going to begin to debate something that you clearly have no experience of. like i said the job in Helmand/Afghanistan is a job which British soldiers have been asked to do....regardless of their personal opinions on the situation they get on and do it, daily with loyalty courage and integrity. All i asked was for you to show some respect (the credible view point). By the way i am not a mug and i am damned if i am your mate!

  • Douglas Young, chairman of the British Armed Forces Federation, said: "From what I've seen so far of reactions among serving personnel and people who have been serving in the past few years and perhaps took part in some of Mr Blair's operations, most of the attitude has been fairly cynical.

You want to attak critics of the war , why not read your own peoples cticisms first, but of course all of us against the war are gay/left wing/ etc.......FUCK OFF MUGS
