The Past Half-Century of Sea Level Rise

In his testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, NASAs James Hansen stated there is increasing realization that sea level rise this century may be measured in meters if we follow business-as-usual fossil fuel emissions. Agreeing with Hansen, many people have been quick to jump on the CO2-induced global warming/rising sea level bandwagon. But how close to reality are the projections of a future sea level rise that is measured in meters?

When water freezes it expands and floats in water as it displaces it's own weight, therefore when it melts it neither raises or lowers the water level. Try putting some ice cubes in a container and record the water level before and after the ice melts.

Even though the Earth has been cooling since 1998 the AGW fear mongers still beat their drums.

Fact: The climate has always changed and always will.

Fact: Temperature change PRECEDES CO2 level change by average 800 years.

Fact: 1000 years ago temp was much higher than today without man's influence.

Fact: The IPCC uses graphs starting only 200 years ago from the end of the little ice age to assert AGW.

The evidence that the sea level in all of the Pacific islands is not changing is unequivocal.

The Pacific Island Sea Level Project was launched by the Australians in 1991. Using scientists from Flinders University, Adelaide and state-of-the-art SEAFRAME equipment kept perfectly level by GOPS, first time used in sea level measurements.

It is clear from these measurements that there has been no change in sea level at any one of the PISLP sites since the

start, which for most goes back to 1992.

H2O is the only molecule which grows upon freezing. By expanding with solidifying temperatures does not imply it gains mass. It doesn't. Ice, is solid h2o, a mass of liquid water weighs the same solid as liquid., that is with all other factors the same.

Global Warming would NOT in fact rise Global sea levels.

Think of it this way if you put a bottle of water in a freezer, the water in the bottle actually expands rather than contracts. Which would mean if all the worlds ice caps melted the sea levels in our oceans would decrease. Ice weighs more than Water.

For glacial melt there is no mention of the equalizing effect of isostasy on the sea floor (as accepted for land masses) in measuring the rate of sea level rise. The isostatic effect should nearly have a 1/3 drop ratio of the sea floor, since the added water is only about 1/3 the mass of displaced sea floor rock, which is ultimately displaced out under the land masses and decreases the sea level rise by 1/3 of the expected measurement. Is isostasy a factor in your data?

Water expands when it freezes but displaces its weight in water so when it melts the volume it displaces neither rise or falls.

You can try this experiment with ice in water in a glass.

The Earth is cooling but still the AGW hysteria continues mostly due to power and money, as always.

There was a record low tide in Scotland in 2003. When ice melts to water, it contracts, so any global warming sends the seas lower. But the world has been cooling from 2005. Which obviously, you refer to.
