Fossil fuels have powered human growth and ingenuity for centuries. Now that we're reaching the end of cheap and abundant oil and coal supplies, we're in for an exciting ride. While there's a real risk that we'll fall off a cliff, there's still time to control our transition to a post-carbon future.

A deeper analysis of the crises we face, and possible solutions we can work on right now can be had HERE: http://j.mp/PCReader

It's interesting to me just how many falsies I heard in that one speech. When ever these ass hole environmentalist get to talking. They never say how much people have replaced just what they take. Oil has a greater effect on our live than just as a fuel. Plastics and Fabrics are just some of the things that come from oils. I agree that we do need to make changes in the way we do things. But trying to scare everyone into doing it your way is a bullshit way to do it.

to think their might be simple technological solutions to problems. No. We have to think through difficult problems of social organization, and how we are to achieve new organizations. The question at hand is none other than, "how do we be revolutionaries today?" Not, "how do we make people not want to have kids." Another billion people one way or another doesn't matter. A hundred Wal Marts one way or another does.

Really disappointed that the video talks about "population growth" and control. This is always a red herring. There's no such thing as a "budget" of how many humans the earth can support, and there's little if any relationship between population and consumption. For decades population has been used to deflect attention away from the critique of capitalism to focus on so-called "overpopulated" areas like India and China (even though Americans consume the bulk of goods), and have tempted people

Havent you heard oil is not a fossil fuel and is produced continually within the earth.(.thus we have dry wells refilling)..This also is why there are hydrocarbons on the moon of Titan(no dinosaur fossils there)....and since the discovery of oil they have been saying it is about to run out to keep the price up.
