Volkswagen's ESP system keeps you and your passengers safe even when road conditions are not!

Other manufacturer's refer to this technology as Electronic Stability Control.

  • thanks for this video, it was impossible to explain this to someone

  • @bigsnowaowan No doubt!!!

The video is more powerful than the best explanation I've heard. Seeing is believing.

  • The ESP is more advanced than the ASR. I am not sure about the addition of the ESP to a 2007. You should check with a local VW dealer or licensed mechanic.

  • one question: why we don't have esp in every car van SUV truck imaginable? we need more dead people?

  • @MICEVVV The Federal Government will require this technology in all cars by 2012. Volkswagen has been pioneering and using this technology for several years. Just another example of the forward thinking that goes into the safety systems. VW is very pro-active when it comes to safety.

  • @MICEVVV P.S.--it has been projected that this technology will save more lives than airbags!!!

  • just put 4 brake pedals in the car!

  • @ylen13 No matter how good a driver you are,you WILL make a mistake sooner or later,it's just a matter of time. And when you do,it's good to know you have a system like this that can help you out.

  • VLC on the snow!!

  • @olibatssobb WRONG. The computer does not decide for you. It helpless you.

I've been in the exact situation as the first car in the clip: snow, sudden obstacle, swerved to avoid it, car started skidding, I compensated by turning into the skid (not turning too sharp), and then lost control.

Now I know how important ESP is.

  • and this is how more and more people become bigger and bigger idiots with no basic (driving) skills. drive a car by yourself, do not let a computer make you job.

  • @bigsnowaowan It's easy to explain here: know how to drive = recover the car; can't drive or can't feel the car = won't recover the car, need ESP. I know, I've done this at 90 km/h on snow with SUMMER tires in traffic. Feel the car = recover the car; overdo recovery maneuver = lose it again.

  • My 2000 GTI 1.8T doesn't have ESP or ASR, its has only the EDS differential (which surprisingly works on snow). Last week I went to the mountainside driving on snow with no problem. Slowly and carefully is how you get to your destination!

  • Those are beautiful socks 1:49 .

  • @MICEVVV as long as they give us the option of turning it off, it is great idea. If the nannies in the dash cannot be shut off, life can be pain sometimes.

  • All i see is bad drivers, and mre expensive bulls&$@ being forced upon us.

  • My car doesn't have stability control, and i spun going 70 on dry roads just like they demonstrate. That was fucking scary.

  • -What is the moral?

    -Disable (ESP) for drifting.

    XD
