Using radar data, scientists from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory created this six-frame movie of asteroid 2005 YU55. The data was obtained Nov. 7, 2011 using NASA's Goldstone Solar System Radar (located at the Deep Space Network facility in Goldstone, Ca.) At the time, the space rock was approximately 860,000 miles (1.38 million kilometers) away from Earth. At its closest approach on Nov. 8, 2011, YU55 will be about 200,000 miles from Earth. It poses no threat.

Resolution is 4 meters per pixel.

The movie is looped 5 times.

  • they see me rollin'

    they hatin'...

  • @baobubs Bravo . . . more variations on a classic. Makes one wonder how many uncopyrighted versions are out there.

  • @E2ekiel555. If you want to save money, you won't get much from NASA -- their annual budget amounts to $18 billion per year. That amount of money would only run the US military for 9 days. However, if you shave 5% from the US military budget -- that frees up $34 billion right there. Now most people (except for paranoid war-mongers) would agree the US military can absorb a 5% reduction and still defend america.

  • @romac53 It rolled in the garden,

    And under a bush,

    And then my poor meatball,

    Was nothing but mush.

  • @Derail07

    You smoke rocks dumass

  • HaHa U Miss... lol

  • @hharts24 That sounds like a good reason. But I still think there are telescopes in space that could have made them, or satellites, or spaceships.

  • @serpentphoenix probably due to the fact a camerica can only be so good in quality at 3million miles away..
