Splendor Solis,
or the Splendor of the Sun...

is an alchemical treatise by Solomon Trismosin, the
teacher and mentor of Paracelsus consisting of 22
plates, wherein the Art is expounded.

Music by: Potentia Animi, "Domina" from the Das erste Gebet CD

1) The Hidden Mystery of the Old Philosophers

2) For unaided Nature does not produce things whereby imperfect metals can in a moment be made perfect, but by the secrets of Our Art this can be done.

3) Dissolve the thing, and sublimate it, and then distil it, coagulate it, make it ascend, make it descend, soak it, dry it,...

4) Hermes, a Father of Philosophy, says: It is indeed needed that at the End of the World, Heaven and Earth should meet and come home.

5) "It will receive the powers of the highest and the lowest Planets and with its force it penetrates solid things, it overcomes all matter and all precious stones."

6) Hermes, the First Master of the Art, says as follows: "The Water of the Air, which is between Heaven and Earth is the Life of Everything."

7) Meaning in this Masterly Art: "Deprive the thing of its Destructive Moisture and renew it, with its own Essential one which will become its perfection and life."

8) Menaldus the Philosopher, says: "I command my (descendants) to spiritualize their bodies by Dissolution, and again to materialize the spiritual things by means of a gentle decoction."

9) "When these five are gathered together, they form One substance, whereof is made the natural Stone,..." "...if we may get at the Fifth, we shall have arrived at the end."

10) "I have killed thee, that thou mayest receive abundant life, but thy head I will carefully hide,..."

11) Ovid the Roman, wrote to the same end, when he mentioned a ancient Sage who desired to rejuvenate himself was told...

12) Saturn
13) Jupiter
14) Mars
15) Sun
16) Venus
17) Mercury
18) Moon

19) This Dissolution is nothing but a killing of the moist with the dry, in fact a Putrefaction, and consequently turns the Matter black.

20) Wherefore is this Art compared to the play of children, who when they play, turn the undermost that which before was uppermost.

21) And this is why this Art is compared to Woman's Work, which consists of cooking and roasting until it is done.

22) For this cause, the Philosophers have filled the whole world with innumerable books.

  • Thy words call to Old Philosopher Jack, Dear Lady... He be at thy service once again.

  • Ah! That a lady's laments be heard. Kind Sir, thine aid shall not be unrewarded! Stay and be refreshed, 'er thy duties call thee hence.

  • Wonderful - and great music. Here again, having been familiar with these illustrations in black and white in the works of Jung, it is a revelation to seem them in colour. The text is enthralling, full of wisdom. Thanks for this, Chas.

  • Thank you for your kind words. The text provided in the video is but a portion of the treatise, albeit, the best portions in terms of being descriptive of the plates.

  • at .50 it says "The water of the Air which is between Heaven & Earth is the Life of Everything"

This is so interesting to me - see what i didn't see before. air vibrating as pure energy ect The planets remind me of the symbol of the chakras. The children playing, become childlike opens doors. Really am enjoying your videos! I don't understand much of the symbolism but there are things I resonate with I'm sure it is different for others but love this! Thank you!

  • The beauty of symbols is that they speak to us those things that cannot be told in words-the Silence within is the voice of all truth.

  • marvelous. slightly saturated blue text would be more legible on the yellow, red backdrop, however. sorry to nitpick, but clarity is the soul teaching. thank you, for this beautiful video

  • The thing is urine, urine is the Philosopher Mercury, you can see the Cherubins pee, two types of water the watery and the earth, two parts you will need from the urine.

  • What is the music? Awesome.

  • the efforts made on this video are wasted when text can't be seen or read and distasteful music detracts, fail.

  • Excellent video...

Splendor solis plates are one of the most beautiful paintings made in renaissance.

    And its 22, like Tarot...
