Steve Timmis on the Church in the UK

At the heart of this, Timmis says something that all who are called to should take under strong, prayerful consideration: "One of the things I keep find myself saying to guys in the states is that we are your future. We are incredibly post Christian in Western Europe and there is antagonistic indifference to the Gospel..."

As I've been back to my hometown in North Alabama, I'm realizing that Steve's words are right on queue. Etowah county consist of 125,000 souls of which only less than 8% are active members of the nearly 300 congregations that meet regularly.

This "antagonistic indifference" that Timmis speaks of is here. I've had conversation after conversation with guys over the past few weeks who see's the visible church as no more than a for-profit business who waves a white flag to the IRS. Are we on mission? Are we fulfilling the mandate of Jesus to make disciples? We better be.
