Jolly Coburn & His Orchestra, Vocal chorus by H. Van Emburgh & Roy Strom -- The Continental (You Kiss While You Dance) Fox-trot from RKO Picture "The Gay Divorcee" (Herb Magidson /Con Conrad), Victor 1934 (USA; Spanish pressing)

NOTE: Jolly COBURN: perhaps the YT wievers will help, for I can't boast about finding anything special about that excellent orchestra. A little more has been found about Harold Van EMBURGH: born in 1905 -- and died in 1975 in NYC, he was a professional musician and a singer who sung with dance orchestras and on the radio.
As for Roy STROM -- he must have been a valued singer and violinist, for his name is featured with renowned orchestras: with Arnold Johnson's, Johnny Johnson and his Staler Pennsylvanians or van Steeden's band.

  • Grzegorz, All I can say is Your videos and overall channel is simply to DIE for! Thank You so much for all the hard work You do.

  • @roybo1930 Thank you! Sorry it took me few days to answer but I am constatntly confused by the new layout of uploadinds (there are now only three on display on right margin) I am happy about your so much flattering opinion. Thanks again :-)

  • I found that the Ink Spots played with Jolly Coburn and his orchestra on NBC-WJZ radio 11:30 PM on 3/18/35, 3/20/35, 3/27/35- and that this version peaked at #2 on the US charts in 1934-came out with a Vitaphone short film in 1936:-)

  • @patoman881 Thank you for that information. Corrie just wrote that J.Coburn made some recordings in 1937 also for Bluebird. Isn't ir surprising how little information has been left after a musician who apparently had outstanding talent, was an excellent arranger and had important music contacts (Ink Spots!). Sometimes, in two minutes you can find dozens of informations about a third-rate band from some remote corner of Europe from year 1900, and here - almost nothing!

  • Incredible !

  • @slLLyhumans Thank you! :)

  • I have a lttle correction for you, my grandather, Harold Van Emburgh was born Sept 21, 1904 in Newark, NJ and died April 14, 1975 at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown, PA .Thanks for posting his music.

  • This record, Victor 24735, reached #2 over a nine week run starting October 30, 1934. It was the only hit Coburn, an Eastern society bandleader, ever had. The vocalists: Harold Van Emburgh and Roy Strom.

  • @roybo1930 I agree with every word of roybo1930's comments. I spend some many hours of my writing and editing listening to the fantastic music you have demonstrated such a talent for finding and posting.

  • Hello Grzegorz - this vid is so fabulous in every way that it makes me smile the whole evening. I adore everything about Fred and Ginger - their great looks, their divine dancing and their versatile acting talents! All their movies are super entertaining and fun. This tune is a fast foxtrot - so Swing is also good! Thanks and a Big Hug!!!
