I would just like to comment that a dreadnoughts is actually a housing which contains a not dead.. live but very badly damaged space marine that can not live outside this chassis and our rewarded this privilege to serve the emperor even when nearly dead (also the dreadnought uses the same technology as the golden throne) This "housing" allows some space marines to serve for millenia and also the knowledge to make more dreadnoughts is lost and so therefore only a limited amount exist.

@crystallinentity I see your point... but one thing still gets me: why are they using SWORDS in 40 thousand years after today? how ever technologicly advanced they are the idear of SWORDS instead of high powerd laser rifles and death rays kind of destroys the point that in the future technology incredibley advanced. But oh well I guess the future ain't how enyone thought it would be.
