A preview of Gladiators and chariot races at Puy Du Fou, near the Vendee coast, France. Gladiators, just one of several good shows at the park, is set in a replica of an amphitheatre that is 115 meters long and 75 meters wide and sits 6000 spectators. It recreates the atmosphere of Gaul during Roman times and is set during the time of Diocletian, when there was great unrest. The show features a traditional parade of people and animals, gladiatorial combat and chariot racing.
Day visits shouldnt be a problem as you can pay on the day or buy tickets from local Tourist Offices in the Vendee. If however you want to include the Cinescenie you need to book well in advance as these tickets sell-out very quickly. The Cinescenie is the after dark open-air spectacular two-hour show with 1000 actors. An English site covering some points http://www.squidoo.com/Puy-Du-Fou - However, for advance bookings from England you need the official website, which being in French, is a pain; unless you can do it through an English Tourist Board? The official website is http://www.puydufou.com/uk
