WARNING: IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED OR COMPLETED MYST, THEN DON'T WATCH THIS!

Basically, this is me completing the first Myst game as fast as possible. The result, as you see in the title, is 1 minute and 45 seconds. This is also my very first speed run. Enjoy!

This game was played on a Power Mac G3 because my Mac OS X computer doesn't have a Classic mode application that allows you to use older programs through Mac OS 9 (Much like DOS Box on Windows computers). Also, I'm pretty sure that today's video capture cards aren't compatible with older computers, so filming the screen had to do.

The tapping at the beginning is me rapidly turning off "Environmental Sound" (So there won't be a small load time in between screen changes), switching to "Fastest Transitions", and turning on "Zip Mode" all with the keyboard.

Update: It has recently come to my attention that someone named Samuel "Arkarian" Groves has broken my record with a time of 1:16, all because of a faster computer processor.

  • So all you do is hit a bunch of switches, pick up a piece of paper, and watch a video of some guy with laryngitis?

  • READ THE DESCRIPTION!!!!

  • @damnlogin Yeah, but if you aren't given any spoilers, you would have to go to all the ages (as well as reading the books that tell you how to get there) and collect the pages so Sirrus or Achenar can tell you what to do. I think a true speedrun would have to include going through all the ages and collecting the pages :\

  • WTF that easy? I remember playing this game when i was like 12. I was confused as F -.- Now i see that all i had to do was move a few levers? LOL

  • uh? thats all?

  • To think this was the pinnacle of games some twenty-odd years ago, and today flash games very similar to it litter NewGrounds by the hundreds.

  • This game is pretty paradoxical. Frustrates adults, intrigues children. Many bought it, few beat it or even came close. Great graphics for it's time, but it's just a souped up slideshow. Stumps people for weeks, months, even years, speed runs go under 2 minutes. A great gaming relic of the past, grab on Steam for pocket change.

  • A lot of the game was myst .

  • @FastbackJon It's SO Much more. He just blitzed it because he knew exactly what to do and what to input. The actual game has (I think) 5 Different worlds to explore and find clues explaining everything

  • Its so funny how the built so many worlds, but you can beat the game in 2 min.

  • You know what, I spent hours on this game only to see you slaughter it in a way that way
