To be honest, for now, the APU is really only going to be really used for says schools or something along those lines. That's if your rumor is true and they do need to fix it, but I think the whole APU is a milestone itself and for now, isn't aimed at the enthusiast.

This might be just a rumor but I heard they couldn't run their demos for very long without the risk of the APU frying itself. If true I can only assume that you by combining the cpu and gpu into one single unit is going to turn even liquid cooling into a water boiler. Anyhow I won't be buying fusion until they sort that issue out and also create a version of fusion which out performs a cpu and gpu combination.

They shouldn't have any problems with 1080p video if everything is working right and updated. Yes they can play games, it's not like the old days. They can play COD4 and FEAR 2 and DAO and lots of other stuff. DX11 is supported by six games so far for slightly enhanced graphics, so it's for high end.

Intel GPUs suck you fanboy, those current solutions often even have trouble encoding HD videos and aren't suitable for games at all, Intel doesn't even have a single GPU with DX11 support . Even apple is building in additional Nvidia cards in ther notebooks because the intel solutions suck but they need to have them due to company policy contracts

I thought Nehalem had their gpu's on the die, sandy bridge will have hyper-threading which fusion will not have. what happens to ATI when fusion is released?

first of all, sandy bridge is still in development and intel is just touting random figures to play up the marketing. we'll have to wait to see actual improvements.

secondly, the Core series processors only have on-package GPUs, not on-die GPU's. Sandy Bridge is supposed to bring the GPU on-die, meaning that Fusion will be on par in terms of basic architecture, not one generation behind.

anyways, would you rather have AMD just give up? they have to start from somewhere...
