Elton John - Your song, The Jake Reichbart Trio

On Wednesday February 18, and on Friday February 20, 2009, George, Nick and myself recorded some music from our regular repertoire with the hopes of distributing this music to a wider audience, whether through a CD or by some other means. In the space of six hours all told, we recorded nearly 25 tunes, one take each, just as we do in our gigs. We also set up a camera so you can see the recording as it occurred. Other than a little compression and reverb, there are no edits and no mixing (I have balanced all output levels from the recording once and there are no further fader movements during playback, all dynamics are from the performance itself).

As the music gets ready for CD production there will probably be some mastering work to optimize audio quality. Meanwhile, we are presenting a few "teasers" from these sessions in order to generate some interest and to assist in, hopefully, getting some gigs...

Also, check out this brand new fun music: http://www.whotookthedough.com/. Once there, click on Recording Session Video. With the great Paul Keller on bass (Diana Krall) as well as myself on guitar.

  • Fantastic playing,Jake, I play this one piano!

    Best regards, Frank! 5*****

  • Thanks Frank, you're a real pal! I'm glad you're back with a new channel, I'll log on later and light up everything with plenty of red stars... Meanwhile I'm off tonight to see Allan Holdsworth in Detroit!

  • Hey, Jake - a good day is better when I my inbox has a link to a new post from you. Because I do solo arrangements myself, I especially like your solo work, but there's nothing quite like ensemble for the true jazz fan in me. This new set of trio work is a great listen. Looking forward to hearing more. It's a whole different experience hearing you without having to play your own bass and drums!

  • Thank you! This trio has been together for more than 10 years so we definitely have grown to listen to each other and I think we have good interplay. These sessions yielded around 25 tunes and I will post the 10-12 best ones. Already there are 6 or so, check them out. Thank you!

  • Could not have said it better myself, Took the words right out of my mouth. Your interpretation is original and fresh. Not too different, Not too the same.. Just right. Will I ever get to rate one of your videos lower than 5 stars?? I hope not :P

  • This arrangement - not to mention the matchless musicianship - really draws the most out of this composition. It's a fine song anyway but the way you guys do it just takes it somewhere else, somewhere better.

  • I'm not big on the drums at the beginning but the rest was greatness

  • Dear Jake, I love your videos, your playing, really inspire me and I am thinking about to order your DVD. I would love to hear this song without drum, like the bass and guitar album of Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden. In this tune I don't like the drum! :)

  • AWESOME!!

  • I was lucky enough to see Jake play at a wedding a couple of months ago. It was already a beautiful day, but hearing Jake perform at the service and the trio at the reception was really spectacular! Wedding music and entertainment doesn't get any better than Jake!

  • Read on your page that you play lots of wedding receptions & so forth. Man, if you played at my wedding, I'd be more focused on you than the party! As a fellow professional guitarist of 20 yrs, you are an inspiration. I'd be honored if you listened to one of my tunes. I'll send a private message w/ website. All the best to you and your family.

  • Hmm i'm sure somebody would help you out along the way. I can't get over your flawless cover of Comfortably numb btw. It's simply jaw dropping imo. I can play comfortably numb, but this is in a different league.
