La Vie en Rose (original French title: La Môme, literally: The Little Girl, is a French cinema film directed by Cesar Award nominee Olivier Dahan, about the life of the legendary French chanteuse Edith Piaf (1915-1963). Marion Cotillard won an Academy Award for her performance, marking the first time an Oscar had been given for a French-language role.

Lyrics Mon Dieu (My God): Edith Piaf was asking God to allow her lover (Marcel Cerdan) to stay with her just a little longer. One day, two days, a week, let me keep him for myself, just a little bit longer.
Time to love each other and to tell each other of our love. Time to do things we can remember. Oh, yes God, let him make my life worthwhile, just a little bit longer.
Six months, three months, two months, let him stay just for me, even if it's only for a month.
The time to begin (our love) or to end it. Time to make our lives bright, or to suffer. Oh, God, even if I'm wrong, leave him with me for a little while, even if I'm wrong, leave him with me again.

From the streets of the cutthroat Belleville district of Paris to the dazzling limelight of New York's glamorous concert halls, Edith Piaf's life was a constant battle to sing and survive, to live and love. Raised in abject poverty, surrounded by hookers and pimps, Edith's magical voice made her a star on both sides of the Atlantic. Her passionate romances and friendships with the greatest names of the period -- Yves Montand, Jean Cocteau, Charles Aznavour, Marlene Deitrich, boxing world champion Marcel Cerdan -- made her a household name as much as her memorable live performances and beautiful renditions of songs she made famous internationally, "La Vie en Rose", "Milord", "Hymn to Love", "Non, je ne regrette rien" and many more. But in her audacious attempt to tame her tragic destiny, the "Little Sparrow" -- as she was nicknamed -- flew so high that she could not fail to burn her wings.

  • @TheTraveltube. Please watch the whole video!! It starts with "Heaven Have Mercy". The song was written to her lover and love of her life, the French boxer Marcel Cerdan. In October 1949 Cerdan was killed in a plane crash on his way from Paris to New York to come see her.

"Mon Dieu" (the second part of this video) is a 1960 song by Édith Piaf. The lyrics are by Michel Vaucaire and the music is composed by Charles Dumont. It's also a tribute to Marcel Cerdan. It starts at 1:51.

  • @elmostrofeo . The original French version of Haven Have Mercy is called "Miséricorde".

  • Im looking for the song that the prostitute Titine was singing to her..and when did she sing the song 'Hymn to love'? I love that song so much it almost makes me cry...=]

  • Titine (played by Emmanuelle Seigner) was singing Il m'a Vue Nue (English: He saw me nude). French actress and singer Mistinguett recorded it first in 1926.
