Insecurity (standard Indian) and lack of sportsmanship keep the Indian entrepreneur away from investing in research. Nobody is ready to fail and so no original idea comes out.

This is the reality. It is really difficult to get an Indian entrepreneur to invest in any research. That is why at the industry level we have very less patents registered. There is a very small innovation from India.

Why successful Indian IT companies does not enourage Phd level R&D ?
Innovation and Research will create higher efficiency in services and individual productivity. This hurts service intense IT business. Going one step further IT companies are killing grassroot level innovation by employing potential enterpreneurs directly from college campus soon after one complete their basic education, ie., bachelors in engineering.
