Field eXpedients: MWG 90-Rounder in Action in AR-15!

We are greatful that this civilian has taken the time to videotape the MWG 90-rounder being fired from his AR-15. However, disregard whiny civilian remarks about "comfort"; national defense is not a couch potato activity. If your weak arms can't hack holding the M4/M16 at the handguards bent around the 90-rounder drum, then you need to do some weight lifting, push-ups or simply attach a foregrip to a Picatinny rail underneath before pontificating about what's for "show" when one clearly lacks GO.

American infantry is currently out-gunned on the non-linear battlefield in part because it lacks a high capacity magazine drum; the MWG 90-rounder doesn't jam like the C-MAGs do, so we need to STFU and buy them and put them into use with SKEDCO Assault Packs to secure their loading tools and properly protect, camouflage and attach them to LBE when emptied.

We do not suggest carrying several 90-Rounders--just 1 to have in your weapon to START the firefight with FIREPOWER OVERMATCH and complete fire & maneuver capability, and then when empty, transition to 20-30-40-60 round box magazines (camouflaged and numbered to keep track of which ones function properly) thereafter.

A Note on the C-MAG: The original C-MAG was also designed and developed by Jim Sullivan. Before The BETA Company (a.k.a. BETA Co.) changed the TDP (technical data package) on the C-MAG, the original design's double-drum magazine body was made from a type of nylon, and the center feed portion (box mag portion) was made of steel and didn't rise above the double-drum portion like it does now. Both of these material aspects were on purpose. Because the double-drum portion was made of nylon, the original C-MAG worked reliably without the need for any type of lubricant. In other words, it didn't require graphite powder lubrication to move the ammo/cartridges around the drums reliably. BETA Co. changed the nylon double-drum portion to a different material (a type of plastic/polymer) and changed the center feed portion to polymer/plastic, in the process making the center feed portion taller (due to the need to reinforce this part to prevent cracking/sheering during firing). One good thing the BETA Co. has done to the BETA C-MAG recently is to make the back plate of the C-MAG clear (Lexan), just like the latest factory Ultimax 100 drum mag (also 100-shots) back plate, so the operator can keep track of his ammo supply visually, during the fight.

this is to everyone who owns an mwg 90 round drum. YOU actually own a 100 round drum... If you know how to use a screwdriver disassemble the mag, remove the little wodden block that has been painted black, reassemble and enjoy. I have had mine for years and it works fine with no jams to date and downloaded to 80 rounds can store for years. the spring wont fatigue, it's like downloading a 30 rounder to 25

Anyway, as for the above video, this guy is obviously firearms-illiterate. He might have less difficulty cocking that CAR15 if he'd brace the stock against his shoulder instead of his leg...

What about the Ultimax 100 LMG?

U.S. military rejected it but need to replace the unreliable, can't-shoot M16/M4 mags-M249 LMG. The Singapore 100-round drum works but the unreliable C-MAg might be forced on us...

A friend of mine just purchased an LWRC M6A1, and the gas piston system is awesome!! 500 rounds last weekend, and the bolt is clean as a whistle.. and the receiver was cold to the touch the whole afternoon. A mag like this with a gas piston system on an AR just makes sense... unfortunately, the US military often frowns on things that make too much sense.

shoot more than 5000rds through it, even with cleaning, I can almost guarantee that he will be zip-tying his piston rod in place because they have a bad problem with jarring loose. That's why the military is not adapting the piston system. Going through some shooting classes with AR's and M4's I have found that out very fast. On the range, we literally had to zip-tie almost every piston rod to keep the class going.

Both the Mark 46 and Mark 48 are variants of the M249.

Why dont we drop the M249 for something like a FN MK46 or even the MK48? Same manufacturer, but they are both lighter and seem to be much more man portable. 18 lbs for the MK48 for a 7.62x51 firing LMG. and how well do the ammo boxes that have belt inside that clips to the bottom of the gun work? The seem like they would work well, but i have no first person experience with them.
