Amtrak 48, running about three hours behind, flies through Amherst, OH heading toward the rising sun. Apparently, there was an NS derailment in Indiana that affected trains in Chicago. Amtrak was not able to get the normal Lake Shore Limited consist turned around in Chicago so they put together a train of Superliners instead. Thanks goes out to flannmann for the information!

  • @howardkevinm Because having a separate train in Albany is impossible, right?

  • flannmann is almost like floamman

  • So how did they get into New York with the hight restrictions, I'm assuming that they had another set of amfleet's waiting at albany

  • @gtw4918 i can confirm that not every museum has an f unit. f's are part of the first generation diesles, which dissapeared faster than the steam locomotives it replaced. The museum i volunteer at dosent have an f unit. We have only two operating locomotives. a 44 tonner and a big berk.

  • @Kleman09 Well, I never use rare, but some locomotives, diesels, are rare. Like conrail stuff, these are rare because there's very few left and they're being repainted rapidly. So that is pretty rare. and other classes of diesels are rare, because there's not many of that class left, like sw1500s. But f units, I'll bet every museum has one, they need to preserve modern stuff. Steam engines never run in our area though.
