A personal, very basic, fingerstyle version of this Ray Noble 1938 composition - that I know through a Charlie Parker bebop interpretation and a Charlie Barnet big band version, both of which I find incredibly catching (as the fine up-tempo version by Earl Bostic too). I don't know jazz guitar, but I like so much the melody that I tried to play it with a few basic guitar chords I know. I'd understand if jazz musicians should want to strangle me for trying this.
With my apologies!

  • I must say, that was some really interesting bass alternation. Awesome job, man.

Thank you so much for your appreciation, JJack887!

  • YAHOO!! That was GREAT!

    Thank you so much, Rogerstill71!

  • Where did you learn all these songs? Do you just pick them up by ear? I like most all the songs you play.

  • I just listen to old swing music all the time: as it's incredibly melodious and rhythmic, it sticks to one's ear - so from time to time I try to find the chords on my guitar. Though it's great fun, I know I slaughter most songs (but these standards have seen worse, even....)

  • You underestimate your playing ability. I don't think you don't butcher the songs at all. They may not be the way jazz guitarists would play them but your alternating bass style deifinitely gives them rhythm.

  • Thanks you so much for your appreciation and interest, Chaslie45!

My right-hand thumb is a little curved backwards, but otherwise of normal length; it may be an optical illusion due to the camera.

  • I've watched several of your videos and you are a really good guitar picker. There is one thing I noticed and I don't mean to say anything bad but your right hand thumb seems unusual. Is your thumb extremely long or has it been broken or something? Just curious.

  • This long shout means a lot to me, especially from a guitarist like you. Thanks!
