The 100mph barrier was broken by 3440 in 1904 actually. But it's debatable if it really managed it. Lovely engine though.

Apparently that's why they didn't make too many locos like this, not enough traction from the 2 pr of driving wheels. Lots of skill needed to control the steam pressure though !
