On October 10, 2009, A large group of Toronto Armenians gathered at Nathan Phillips Square, to protest the signing of an agreement between Turkey and Armenia. This agreement greatly undermined the needs of Armenians within and outside Armenia. Besides questioning the occurrence of the Genocide of 1915, it has implications for the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict. The protocols have been developed in this one-sided manner, due to the pressure from the western world for expediency, the economic strength of Turkey, and also perhaps due to the short-sightedness of the current Armenian President, Serze Sarkissian
