Gene, Buddy and Blakey wrote together the Handbook of Drumming. In there they included the out of this world timing, the heavenly body elegance and the monstrous attack on the drumset. This video is around 70 years old and it still sounds fresh and modern. I love the well controlled explosiveness of Gene beautiful and cumbersome approach to the traps. He inspired entire generations of drummers, being both a creator and innovator. All my gods are terrestrial and Gene is one of them.

I love watching Gene Krupa, because he's my idol's idol. You can totally tell where Keith Moon got his showmanship from. RIP Gene, and Keith.
