@peterbiltforlife But, since I plan to build a set of twins, I'll probably send the one I have now to II and have them make me a 64/65/VGT. Otherwise if I was going to stick with a single I'd try to find a 431 or 451 that came with the bigger 67mm turbine wheel and have II make me a 66/68/VGT. So about that beer, you plan on going to Schieds in august? Maybe I'll have to buy you one...

@peterbiltforlife The 451 I have on my truck is a 60/60/VGT, but the compressor wheel has longer blades with a more aggressive pitch and a larger exducer (93mm vs 88mm on the 351) and the turbine wheel inducer is bigger (74mm vs 70mm on the 351). So the compressor wheel is a little more effecient at higher boost and the turbine wheel shares the exact same inducer measurement as a 65mm exducer Borg-Warner wheel :D

@peterbiltforlife Industrial Injection can make up to a 64/65/VGT out of the 351 without surge... Some of the 400 series, ie 431 or 451s came with an exhaust wheel that's bigger which would allow the bigger 68mm turbine wheel to be installed without major mods which would allow a 66mm inducer to be used without surge (so 66/68/VGT).

@cktsantiago until someone comes out with a 66VGT we can only dream... how big are the wheels on the 451? i dont think ive ever seen one... i got my 351 for free from a wreck and im working on ISXs all the time thas wut gave me the 551 idea...

@peterbiltforlife That's why I went with the 451, the turbine wheel is larger, so all that's needed is a set of bushings to accept the bigger borg-warner shaft and to hog out the housings. Plus the 451 compressor housing is less restrictive =)
BTW, I wouldn't bother with the 551... A fellow I know tried one on his 12v. It wouldn't spool before 2200rpm, only made 45psi of boost, and it was hot. We came to the conclusion the wheels were too big/heavy and the exhaust housing was too big.

@peterbiltforlife that's funny... must have been a pretty decent set of injectors. Me a noob? I think you'd find it more fun to sit at the bar and BS over a couple beers than make assumptions. I don't blame you for tossing the 351 in favor of something bigger if you needed more air to get past the 500rwhp mark. It's too much like work for places like II to make a 62/65/VGT out of it since there isn't enough room to fit the turbine wheel without major mods to the sliding collar.
I want a 64VGT and 200's for the 24v!!! haha This is what us vp guys need... a quick spooling big single for the auto guys!!

@rangaman86 Yeah it's definitely fun, I found out the higher HP rated M11s come with a 64/67/VGT turbo STOCK. The only thing that sucks is that they have the small shaft still, so anything more than 40psi of boost would probably destroy it.

@cktsantiago I had a 2004 ISM in at work that was boosting 60-70 psi had compressor damage and the VGT couldnt keep the turbo speed low enough (spiked 120k RPM before engine derated)
It had to of been run for at least a week like that too,
Not sure if its the same turbo but just an fyi

@ChargedTTq good god... No that's probably a 551 that you are thinking of. I wish I could read the shaft speed on my turbo. The sensor is there, but not sure how to read it. But if I ever made 70psi on a single this small I'd be impressed. I could see 50psi pretty easy out of the 64mm 451 though :)
