Catholics are christians!
-
That is inaccurate. Eastern Orthodox Primates - like Patriarch Bartholomew and the Archbishops of Greece and Albania - were present at the late Pope's funeral as guests but did not participate in the ceremony. The bishops seen in this video chanting in greek are not Eastern Orthodox, they are Eastern Catholic bishops, that is bishops who belong to the Roman Catholic Church but maintain the Byzantine Rite and usages (sometimes they are also called Uniates).

@22Chucky22 As Pope John Paul II himself said, the Church breathes through two lungs: through the East, and through the West.

It still touches me so deeply that JPII the great is not with us anymore but he is now in heaven with our Heavenly Father. I hope he can intercede for us and bring visible unity to all Christians through the Prince of Apostles.

Christos anest ek nekron

Christ is risen from the dead
trampling down death by death
and upon those in the tombs bestowing life

What a shock, Fox News screws up again and says these are Orthodox priests. Their stupidity has no end.
-
@nikolaidis6 Firstly, Jesus Christ is THE Church...what I am talking about is the argument over primacy, one of the main reasons for the schism and in my personal opinion, the Pope of Rome is THE universal primate because he is the successor of St. Peter, on whom Christ said he would build his church.
There is a very visible connection between Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholics. We share the same liturgical tradition, theology and many others things. Universal primacy is the only separation
-
Uniates are in FULL communion with Rome, and as such have NO communion with the (Eastern) Orthodox World. They have NO present connection to the (Eastern) Orthodox Church. There is NO universal primate; the Head of the Church is Jesus Christ.
-
@warszawianka The heirarch you are referring to is His Beatitude Lubomyr, Patriarch of Kyiv and Halych, Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
-
@nikolaidis6 Uniates are not Roman Catholics! These are the Eastern Catholic Churches...they are clergy and Bishops just like His Holiness Bartholomew and the Eastern Orthodox Heirarchs...and there is no reason to bash them or criticize the Eastern Catholic Churches...we Eastern Catholics are your brothers and sisters in Christ, in Orthodoxy except we accept the Pope of Rome, not Patriarch of Constantinople, as the Universal primate
-
@jastus1 Eastern Orthodox Primates! My grandad would have smacked you silly if he heard that
Just a precision, they are not orthodox but uniats...
