  • Try the "Pollution Test" recommended by Dr. Robert Young of the pH Miracle: boil 1 tbsp of baking soda and 1 cup of water in your enamel for 5 to 10 minutes. You'll taste in one drop on your spoon the lead and cadmium used to harden or temper the inner surface, and the adhesives used in fusing the enamel (glass) coating to the cast iron. Yum!
