Ricky Gervais went missing for an hour at this year's Golden Globe awards. Were his jokes too hot to handle for show organizers?

Phillip Berk, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, wasn't pleased. There was speculation Gervais was told to rein in his jokes.

His targets included Robert Downey Jr ... Hugh Hefner ... and a couple of Scientologists.

If the comedian's jokes bruised the celebrities' egos, fortunately they have enough money for a comfort bath.

Gervais also mocked actor Tim Allen. After his hour long break, Gervais was more subdued. But he denied there was anything unusual about his prolonged absence.
