http://www.kiva.org - Kiva lets you make a loan to a specific low-income entrepreneur -- empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty.

Ocuituco Group, Mexico, Retail
http://www.kiva.org/lend/354604

This group is called "Ocuituco." The members are Elena who will use the loan to buy creams, perfumes and cosmetics, María who will buy beans, tortilla dough, corn and firewood, Mónica who will buy oil, sugar, eggs, cream, yoghurt and votive candles, Celia who will buy dried meat to stock her store, Ana Lilia who will buy seasonal shoe catalogues to fill her orders.

Mónica is 42 years old, married to her husband who is a merchant and they have two adult children, a boy and a girl. She has a grocery store and asked for the loan to buy votive candles, soft-drinks, water, disposable drinking glasses and plates, Sabritas brand snacks, Bimbo brand baked goods, cheese, ham, sausages, eggs, soap, coffee, milk and soup.

She started the business ten years ago with some money her husband had saved up and she gradually learned how to manage the store. Her business is important because she earns money from it to cover unexpected illnesses, for the money and for the doctor. She likes tending well to her customers, to chat with the housewives. Her business has helped her family to have food. She is very happy with this loan she's going to get because it's a help to invest in her store, to make it grow and so that customers can find what they are looking for.

Her dreams and goals are to become grandparents, to be healthy, to go out traveling and that her children get ahead in life, are happy and that they have their own houses.

The group members want to say to Kiva and to Fundación Realidad: "We thank you for the loans you give us; it's a big support you provide because the need is great and with your help we can get ahead with our businesses and with our families."
