This egg and mayonnaise protein treatment strengthened my roots and softened my locs (I saw results after 1 week). This is my first successful attempt and I plan to continue this treatment at least every 1-3 months. Instructions are below:

**Don't do this treatment more than once a month**
-2 eggs (I have a lot of hair)
-1/2 a jar of mayonnaise (mine was a 30 fl. oz jar)
-Mix and slather it all over your locs or just your roots
-Soak for 90 min. w/ a shower cap (or longer, it's up to you)
-Rinse w/ COLD water (to avoid scrambled eggs in your hair)
-Apply conditioner to mask the egg smell and rinse
-Towel dry and style

*Results: My hair was soft the same day and my roots showed health and restoration after 1 week!

  • "-Rinse w/ COLD water (to avoid scrambled eggs in your hair)" OR you could utilize this fact and have breakfast after your hair treatment. XD

Thanks for this video. My bf has the driest hair in the universe and this is definitely what I was looking for to try to fix his mane. *high five!*

  • Lol! You have a great sense of humor. Just remember that protein treatments can be a little drying too, so it's good to use conditioner still. *high five* back!

  • Ok just put in my mayonaise and egg lol hope all goes well. Can give us some more home made hair treatments.I dnt normally use conditioner bcas my locks are kinda young so i dnt want to detangle them too much.is this an accurate statement Im makin?

  • That's correct. Using conditioner on baby locs will soften them even more or possibly unravel them, so you're on the right track. If I have more home made hair treatments then i'll be sure to let you know. Let me know how the E/M treatment works out for you. :-)

  • How often should you do this and can you do an account/baking soda rinse the same day or within the same week to remove buildup?

  • I have read that you can do a protein treatment no more than once a month, only because too much protein can cause dryness, especially if it is not followed by the use of a moisturizer or conditioner. I believe you can do a baking soda rinse anytime, but remember that a rinse is drying too and a moisturizer should be used afterwards. Using both treatments in one day is possible, but just make sure that you condition/moisturize your hair very well.

  • Any conditioner is fine. You can use shampoo to wash your hair, but not in place of conditioner after a protein treatment. Like I mentioned before, our hair needs a moisturizer after a protein treatment.

  • @DynamicRunner

What condtioner so u have to use? or can u use any? u cant use shampoo????

  • Well, protein treatments are drying, so conditioner is used to restore the moisture that is lost. Shampoo will make the hair even more dry after using this treatment.

  • Instead of conditoner can't I use the shampoo?
