Here are some photographs I took on 15 August 2009 in Washington DC's Mount Pleasant Neighborhood. My specific focus was the various old-fashioned police and fire callboxes that the DC Cultural Tourism Foundation has refurbished into de facto pedestals for small metal statues that relate to local history. The Foundation calls this project "Art on Call."

I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark II SLR camera with a Canon L-series 24-105mm short zoom lens. I developed the pictures using Adobe Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop Elements 7.0, making use of the following plug-ins and applications:

Photomatix --to process triple exposures of the same object into high dynamic range photos.

Nik Silver Efexa --to render some of the pictures into high quality black and white ones

Topaz Adjust and Detail --to bring out additional details in the image

AlienSkin Bokeh --to make some of the photographs look like they had been shot using a depth of field much wider than what my actual lens was capable of (in this case simulating an L-series 85mm F1.2).
