@idork Title 36 of the US Code states that you should stand with your hand over your heart and face the flag (if present) or the source of the music during the national anthem. Military in uniform should salute, and veterans (since 2008) are given the option of placing the hand over the heart or saluting. Of course there are no penalties for not following the protocol.

@idork I believe the proper respect to any performance of the National Anthem is to stand, remove your cover, and place your right hand over your heart.

Oy. You are only supposed to put your hand over your heart when you are pledging your allegiance to the flag. I expected better from Disney.
