To clarify:

Of - preposition - 1)expresses possession or connection. 2)indicates parts or content.

"The religion of (possession) Christ is Judaism," essentially saying "Christ was a Jew" is a correct assertion. "The religion of (content of preaching) Christ is Christianity," is also a correct assertion.

Not Addressed in Video:
Jesus confirms with the High Priest that He is the Messiah - term used is "Son of Man." This is taken from the Prophet Daniel (7:13), which http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=965&letter=S&search=... never directly addresses the terminology used, possibly because the passage DOES, in fact, refer to the title of the Messiah. The phrase son of man is used in more than one way in Scripture. In Hebrew ben-adham would have been taken originally as a roundabout or poetic reference to a human being. The same is true in Aramaic. In fact, the Aramaic equivalent of the term (bar-nasha) still means man or human being in modern Aramaic.

Thus Ezekiel is referred to as son of man without it indicating that he was anything more than human. (Notice that Ezekiel doesn't call himself Son of Man as if using a title; rather, the angel addresses him as son of man, as if speaking generically as a non-human to a human being.) Over time a secondary usage of the phrase as a messianic term developed under the influence of prophetic literature such as the vision of Daniel 7.

The fact that son of man originally was a way of saying human being suggests that even when the title acquired the use of being a reference to the Messiah that it still retained the connotation of pointing to a man. Thus it is fair to say that the title calls attention to Jesus' humanity while—in light of Daniel 7—it also suggests his eternal kingship and messianic mission.

  • That is a blatant lie! Everything you said is false!

  • Yeshua's Renewal-Repentance movement sought to advance the Kingdom of Heaven within. The "New Covenant" in Jer. 31:31-34, was understood by Yeshua's fellow proto-rabbinic sages to be the memorization, internalization and actualization of the Torah. The TaNaK is "fulfilled" and made "complete" when it because so much a part of who one is that they become a manifestation of "the Word made Flesh." Ever heard the expression, "That guy's a walking encyclopedia"...? Same concept.

  • Yeshua's faith was Judaism, but it was the Judaism of a specific sub-group within Pharisaic Judaism -- Chasidic-Separatism per the plebeian, Galilean schools that were aligned with the House of Hillel the Elder. That said, Yeshua's "movement" was but one of several "renewal" movements of that period. Today, we see a similar push in Judaism among the modern Hasids, like the Lubavitch, to advance a Baalei Teshuvah (Masters of Repentance) movement to restore Secular Jews (et al) to the Torah.

  • Enjoyed listening to your well thought out response to wayman.I appreciate his knowledge of ancient text and it gives me alot to think about though we disagree on the very nature of Jesus as God man.
