Paterno and Penn State felt cheated out of at least a share of the 1969 national title after going 12-0 just like champion Texas. But the year earlier, few PSU fans complained about barely being considered for the title, even though the Lions were
12-0 just like champion Ohio State. Was it generally conceded that the 1968 Lions
had a softer schedule than a year later? Did Paterno make a fuss about his team
deserving to split with the Buckeyes? Or was Ohio State head and shoulders above them?
@SashaNein I'd love to see Army, Navy, and Air Force all three be national powers again. I know we'll never see the eight Ivies be powerful again, but it'd be nice to see the service academies no longer associated with an easy win in football. Out of respect for the branches of the armed forces, even at the teams' worst I refused to call them "cupcakes" but instead called them "former powerhouses".
This is back when Army and Navy were still pretty big names in college football, so this was a good win on the way to two straight undefeated seasons.

@MVillani1985 Navy's working its way back up there. Air Force has taken Army's place.
