Walter Pichler
Austrian, born 1936
Pillars under the Shed | Project, 1975
Aerial perspective, 1975
Ink, colored ink, and graphite on paper
Primarily a sculptor rather than an architect, Pichler carefully constructs his architectural visions on paper or in the form of models. His practice has influenced such architects as Raimund Abraham and Coop Himmelb(l)au. Pichler's projects are all intimate, isolated structures, in some case partly buried. For Pichler they house the loneliness and solitude of the mind, recalling dreams.
