With that 2 stroke design it's no wonder they had so many break downs, they're relying on engine horsepower and not torque to move the machine. Sounds much like a GM diesel or Detroit diesel engine.

@ak907jk The engine is a 6 cylinder, 12 piston engine. Two pistons horizontally opposed in each cylinder. The tank was slow, but even worse was the engines 90% failure rate

Running on a Leyland L.60 No4 Mk8A 12-cylinder multi-fuel engine developing 750BHP at 2,100RPM with a top road speed of only 30MPH I would say yes these tanks have incredibly underpowered engines their power to weight ratio is way off lol

The "prototype" Chieftain was a Marksman Mobile Anti-Aircraft system adapted to the Chieftan from the T-55 & T-72 versions
