Bill and Bruce are correct. This was not an SNL skit, it was a Steve martin Special. I am pretty sure its from 1983. In fact, I remember him playing this particular skit on Johhny Carson to promote the show. At the time, Martin claimed you had to tune into the show because all the other skits are funnier than this one. Actually this was easily the funniest skit on the show. Jose is played by Antonio Fargas from Starsky and Hutch, Huggy bear.
