Walter Martin explains the position many churches who uphold their cherished doctrine of Cessationism, being thoroughly unbiblical. A contextual exegetical examination of 1 Corinthians chapter 12-14 reveal there is no biblical support for any type of cessation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Great portions of Holy Scripture have to be denied, and the usual counterfeit gifts arguments are presented to support the view that the Gifts have ceased. Yet the testimony of Holy Scripture is clear, and a rightly divided contextual view of all Scriptures that speak on the subject, will never support the unbelief of New Testament commandments given by our Lord in 1 Cor 14:37

The foundational Scriptures of the New Testament cannon, is support enough, that God has not changed concerning who he distributes individually His Gifts as He wills 1 Cor 12:11.

The danger of holding onto a Cessationist view is that it has so often produced a prideful arrogant division by it's adherents. Causing the True Body of Christ to be disjointed, without the care/unity, as commanded by our Lord to have for each other. 1 Cor 12:25, John 13:34, John 17.
Furthermore, the only gifts valid in the Cessationist camp are Teaching, Preaching, Administration Helps; and by this limiting of gifts, a Popish mentality has infected the minds of these "teachers". They require you to submit to the authoritative position of "teacher", while they consistently, unbiblically, deny the other gifts, that facilitate disjointedness, and bring divisions to Christ body. Contrary to our Lords admonition that the True Biblical Church become one in Him. The Scriptural instruction and commands concerning the gifts of the Holy Spirit they deny, when fully understood, is parallel to the preeminent type of pride that produced in Satan his fall. Many in the Cessationist camp have fallen unwittingly victim to the same Satanic egotism that promotes there gift, as the only valid gift; over those who know what Holy Scriptures teach. That Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever, for His church, which are His gifts to His body.

  • @MattMusicHodges "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63

....before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth (This is daily baptism of the Holy Spirit by faith alone that raises) the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Rom 4:17 God says about obeying the calling of Christ to die. "that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:" 1Cor 15:36

  • @FreeTheMasons the seed goes into the ground (dies) and then it sprouts up, as Jesus said "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone: but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit." John 12:24. Since the apostate modern church knows nothing about the calling of Christ to die, instead, it's filled with idolatry. Then it knows hardly nothing of the quickening of the Holy Spirit which manifest God's presence. As Scripture says... con't

  • @MattMusicHodges The Holy Spirit is given to everyone who truly believes in Christ Jesus and has repented from sin. As Scripture says we received it by faith. "This only would I learn of you, Received you the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" Gal 3:2 "He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit, and works miracles among you, does he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" Gal 3:5 Obeying the calling of Christ to die, the seed spouts up and con't

  • Just as a side note. We always want to make sure we see faith not as a force we can manipulate. That would not be Biblical Faith, but the concept that has been leavened into the church by the metaphysical cults pushing there "Law of Attraction." The Secret doctrine has subtlety been in the church under the guise of the "word faith movement" promulgated by men like Kenneth Hagen, Copland, many on TBN... Hanegraaff exposed the movement in the 90's watch?v=E7jHvm-MKfE

  • @artsychic2000 Yes, the problem with His town was their unbelief. God calls us to always have faith in Him. ...the just shall live by his faith.

Habakkuk 2:4,Galatians 3:11,Hebrews 10:38. The Scripture points out a spiritual principle the Jesus wants relationship and thus requires faith, and all those he is calling, He gives faith, for faith also is a regenerating gift from God Ephesians 2:8...not of ourselves... Therefore when God does heal, His will is being manifested.
