Local Prices at Costco in Saipan

Prices at the local 'Price-Costco' in Saipan, The Northern Mariana Islands. Outrageous !!! The family who owns this store (along with almost the rest of the islands supermarkets and car dealers - Joeten family) has taken the concept of a bulk wholesale store and turned it into a joke. They rip apart bulk items, split diaper packages up into smaller amounts and STILL charge the ORIGINAL FULL PRICE for a much smaller quantity. It is pathetic and there are hardly any choices as it is as to where to shop. A total monopoly.

honestly, i think costco took them out of the boxes because of people being unable to afford to buy a whole box for 30$. i buy storebrand wegmans diapers here size 4 and i get 50ct for 15$. so really, w/ huggies supposedly being the cream of the crop, it's a deal. going back home (saipan) in a couple of months...glad there's someplace i can get diapers for an affordable cost. :P

those are not rip off prices if you think about it because what costco has to pay to ship it to the small island and the price for the gas and the ship so its not that bad

I pay $45.12 for Kirkland Costco diapers Size 6 (92 in a box) in Seattle, is that too much?

You are getting a decent deal.

Otherwise, why not shop elsewhere or buy Saipan brands, they are just as good if not better than newly cheapened Pampers Cruisers with Drymax crap.

Japanese baby diaper brands like "Goon" are exceptionally thick and leak-proof with versions that go up to size 8 (130 lbs!)

Saipan locals retail the "Goon" brand, why are you complaining that IMPORTED BRANDS aren't cheap enough?

@sparton228 I agree. They aren't charging the full price of the Costco diapers, which actually come in a box of 212. They are marking up each individual package, but they still end up somewhat reasonable. I have paid a lot more in desperation at grocery stores in the states.

Don't be surprised. I'm a Costco member here in Canada and the prices aren't much better.

They have gotten too greedy over the last few years, and I don't find their prices all that competitive considering they force you to buy in bulk.

I've been spending less and less at Costco over the last couple of years!
