Q&A: How To Record Sounds From Your PC

In this video, I answer a question from @CoreyCharette (http:/twitter.com/coreycharette) who utilized the #bwanatvqa hashtag on Twitter. He asks: "@Bwana Is there a way to record sounds off my pc? Sound card doesn't seem set up for it." Thanks for the question, Corey. The solution to your issue is to enable "Stereo Mix" in your sound input settings. I noticed that you stated your sound card doesn't seem set up for it, so I recommend updating to the latest sound card drivers which may enable this solution. Once you enable Stereo Mix, use an application such as Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to record from the input. If that still doesn't work, I recommend utilizing Virtual Audio Cables (http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html) to capture audio from your computer and redirect it to Audacity for recording. To clear this up - stereo mix is an option specific to certain sound cards. My old one used to have some similar settings, but not the one I have now. Sadly, most sound cards do not have this feature.

Is it possible that my computer think i'm trying to record the computer sounds to my mixer? Instead recording the sounds coming from my mixer ?

I use to record the sounds from my cd turntable. I connect my mixer to the pc microphone output but now the computer doesen't even notice the sounds anymore:S Anyone know what the sulotion ccan be ?

dude an easy way is by saying download the newest up to date sound card to get stereo mix b/c dats what i did and it worked for me!!!

I've got a question. What are you using to get such incredible video detail in this video you made. I have never seen such clarity in a home video and it's not choppy.
